Mark your calendars for this Labor Day weekend, and head over to Plaza Square Park in the historic downtown district for all of the festivities!

    • Who Will Be There
At the Orange International Street Fair, you’ll find plenty of locals, non-locals, and international groups celebrating cultural diversity on every street corner. Over the course of three days, you’ll hear from many entertainers, from Slipjacket British Invasion on the English Street Stage to Latin Lowdown performing on the Mexican Street Stage. Not only will you experience the distinct sounds of diverse musicians, but you’ll also enjoy the exciting foods of 15 different ethnicities!

    • What You Can Anticipate
There’s no end to the fun at this thriving street fair. Once you’ve had your fill of food and drinks from any of the 42 local booths in attendance, visit the Handmade Arts and Crafts section that features local artists. If you’re out with the whole family, take the kids to Children’s Street for even more games and entertainment.

    • Why You Should Go
The Orange International Street Fair is not only a place to experience food, music, and dance from cultures throughout the world, but also a time to bring the community together. All of the profits that are made at the Street Fair will go to other non-profit charities to benefit the people in our community. Make sure to visit the large section featuring Community Booths to witness the great work put forth by local businesses.

How New Windows Can Help Keep Your Home Cooler

    Last updated 5 years ago

You may think that propping your windows open during a hot summer day will help keep your home cooler, but a light breeze will only deliver temporary relief from the heat. If you have old windows, you may want to consider replacing them with new models. Here’s how new windows keep your home cooler:

    • Consider Window Design
Obvious factors, such as the size and placement of your windows, will affect how much heat enters your home. However, the type of glass and frame of your window will also have a large impact on how much heat enters your home. For instance, high-performance glazing can drastically reduce the amount of heat energy that comes through the glass without compromising natural light. Explore your options when it comes to fixed-pane or sliding windows. If you’re looking for good ventilation but airtight closure, consider casement or awning windows.

    • Consider Window Properties
New windows come with specified ratings. These numbers help you to determine how much protection from heat a window can offer your home. The SHGC number relays how much solar radiation is admitted through a window; a lower SHGC means less solar heat transmission and better shading for your home. Confirm that the air leakage number has a low rating to ensure a tight window assembly.

If you’re not an expert, don’t try to install new windows on your own. A poorly installed window, no matter how energy efficient it is, could compromise your efforts to keep your house cool. At California Glass & Window, we understand that your windows are part of a sophisticated ventilation system. Our award-winning team of professionals provides the best installation services for our Orange County clients.
