Top Orange County Surfing Spots

Last updated 5 years ago

While the rest of the country is preparing for a chilly autumn, Costa Mesa residents are still enjoying the beautiful sunshine left over from this year’s summer season. Here at California Glass & Window, our replacement window specialists enjoy making the most of this weather by hitting the beach to catch some waves. If you’re thinking about doing the same, take a look at our choices for Orange County’s top surfing spots:

Uncrowded Trails Beach
For many surfers, a perfect day in the water consists of plenty of waves—not plenty of people. Head over to Trails, south of the San Onofre Power Plant, to experience decent moves and plenty of beautiful scenery. This beach also offers camping for those looking to get an early start.

Classic Huntington Beach
This beach is not only world-renowned as “Surf City USA,” but it is also home to the official U.S. surf team. Surfers can expect to experience great waves. However, the beach can be busy during certain times of the year. To avoid crowds, head south of the pier or out towards the cliffs.

Renowned Trestles Beach
For many OC surfers, Trestles is the epitome of SoCal surfing. This portion of the San Clemente State Beach is the only stop in the continental U.S. for the Association of Surfing’s professional tour. Trestles is split into two parts, each offering its own unique type of wave.

Historical Doheny Beach
Although many locals may not know it, Doheny Beach was actually the first state beach in California, established by an oil tycoon in the 1930s. This beach has been featured in Beach Boys songs, and it is known for its relaxed vibe. Surfers should beware its rocky bottom, which can tear up a board as well as skin.

While the saltwater may feel great on your skin, remember how tough it can be on your windows and doors. Trust California Glass & Window for long-lasting products that can stand up to nature’s tests. Call us at (714) 434-8650 to learn more about our selection.
